Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often. Don't see yours? Reach out — we're happy to walk you through your specific situation.

General

Who do you typically work with?

Foreign founders, SMEs, family offices and high-net-worth individuals from across the GCC, Europe, East Asia and beyond. Most engagements involve setting up, investing, buying property, or relocating to Malaysia.

How are your fees structured?

We charge fixed fees for defined scopes of work. Every engagement begins with a complimentary scoping conversation, after which we send a written proposal with a flat price — no hourly billing surprises.

Do you work with clients remotely?

Yes — most of our work begins remotely. We can complete a Malaysian company setup and bank introduction without you being physically present, and only require you in-country for specific milestones (which we plan well in advance).

What languages do you operate in?

English is our working language. We also have advisors fluent in Arabic, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and several other languages.

Business Setup

How long does it take to incorporate a Sdn Bhd?

Incorporation itself typically takes 5–10 working days once we have your documents. Banking, licensing and operational readiness usually push the full timeline to 4–6 weeks.

Can foreigners own 100% of a Malaysian company?

Yes, in most sectors. There are restrictions in certain industries (e.g. bumiputera-reserved sectors, financial services). We'll confirm during the scoping call.

What's the minimum paid-up capital?

RM 1 in principle. In practice, RM 500,000 or higher is often advisable to support visa applications and bank account opening — we'll advise based on your situation.

Investment

Do you co-invest with your clients?

No. We are an advisory firm and never take principal positions in deals we recommend. This avoids any conflict of interest.

What ticket sizes do you typically work with?

Most mandates are RM 1M and above. We consider smaller engagements case-by-case, particularly where there's a long-term relationship potential.

Real Estate

Can foreigners buy property in Malaysia?

Yes, subject to a minimum purchase price (typically RM 1M, varies by state) and certain category restrictions. We help identify properties that qualify and structure the purchase.

Can I get a mortgage as a non-resident?

Yes — typically up to 70% LTV from major Malaysian banks. We coordinate the application with our banking partners.

Residency

What's the difference between MM2H and PVIP?

MM2H is the long-standing long-stay programme; PVIP is a newer, premium 20-year visa with broader work and business rights. Each suits different profiles — we'll recommend based on your situation.

Can my family come with me?

Yes. Most pathways (MM2H, PVIP, Employment Pass) include or allow dependents. We coordinate spouse and child visas as part of the same engagement.

Does Malaysia tax foreign income?

Generally, foreign-sourced income remitted into Malaysia by individuals is tax-exempt under current rules — but specifics vary. We'll connect you with our tax partners for personalised advice.
